The German Community during the Hitler Reign In the time leading up to and during Hitler’s reign in Germany, German citizens felt the impacts of the political as well as the economic situation of the country. These conditions in Germany led to the building of the Nazi party and to the Holocaust. The new government headed by Adolf Hitler changed the life of all Germans whether they joined the Nazi party themselves or opposed the ideas of Hitler or aided Jews to fight the persecution they suffered under this government. In 1929, Germany was in a very poor state economically. The stock market crash and depression in the United States had spread world wide, and Germany felt a large portion of the blow. The debts from World†¦show more content†¦He did not allow Jews any freedom in society and went so far as to at times deny them of the basic rights of food and shelter. Hitler eventually began concentration camps in his attempt to rid the world of the Jewish race. (Holocaust: A Tragic Legacy) After Hitler gained political power in Germany, he quickly put his grand plan into action. He used his control over the ever increasing Nazi party to declare a state of emergency in Germany. He then managed to force all non Nazis out of office, thus creating a one party dictatorship. The Nazi party had the ability to read mail, tap phones, and search homes without a warrant. He used this device to ban all those opposed to him from holding any sort of important position, and many were sent to jail. This action of Hitler created a fear in many of his critics, and they either fled Germany or did not publicly express their opposition. When the Nazis learned of even a possibility that someone may not agree with their beliefs or methods, they would either send that person to jail or create a miserable life for that person and his or her family. This aspect of fear of the consequences of rebellion was not the only tactic the Nazi party used to control the general populous of Ger many. The most effective tool they used was propaganda.
